FOODEX JAPAN 2012
The Greater Nagoya Initiative Center (GNI) will hold a join exhibition/networking booth with two Mie companies at this year's FOODEX JAPAN event.

The companies are Azuma Foods, famous for inventing takowasa (wasabi seasoned raw octopus) and TAKEYA, Co., Ltd., which produces green tea desserts and has received the Monde Selection awards for over twenty products.

Indian Business Seminar in Mie
In Japan, information on the Indian business environment remains insufficient despite its rapid economic growth and business potential. Mie Prefecture Holds Public Briefing on METI Subsidy Program
The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) is planning to implement a domestic industrial promotion program using the FY2011 supplementary budget, which comprises a total value of 330 billion JPY for use in location subsidies.

In order to elucidate the details to interested parties, the Mie Prefectural Government will hold a public briefing on this subsidy program in conjunction with METI.

Those who are interested in attending but cannot make this date may attend an alternative briefing on November 28th in Nagoya (see PDF below for details).

Sharp Kameyama Factory Tour

Chewy Chubu Sampling Party
The Greater Nagoya Initiative (GNI) along with the Chubu Bureau of Economy, Trade, and Industry (Chubu METI) will be holding a party at which participants will be able to sample the Chewy Chubu foods. These are foods produced in the Chubu area that are healthy and safe examples of authentic Japanese cuisine.

As part of the GNI, the Mie Prefectural Government will be lending a hand in this event, and one of the six foods that will be available is Banrai Soymilk (used in tofu) produced by Minami Sangyo, a Mie company located in Yokkaichi.

Business Reception with French Industries
In cooperation with JETRO, Mie Prefecture has invited four French companies involved in mechatronics to the area. In the interest of business matching, we will be holding a seminar and reception at which companies within Mie will be able to interact with representative of the French companies.

The Mie Government has maintained a business pact since Nov. 2009 focused on mechatronics with the Annecy commune of Rhône-Alpes, a region in southeastern France.

Chubu METI Announces Rare Earth Presentation
The Chubu Bureau of Economy, Trade, and Industry announced today that they will be holding a presentation on their Rare Earth Provision on Dec 21st in Nagoya.

This provision, for which 100 billion yen was set aside from the supplementary budget, aims to encourage and support the swift reduction of rare earth metals, as well as provide support for manufacturers using these metals to renovate their facilities and improve recycling.

Mie 2010 Leading Industries Fair
The Mie Prefectural Government will be putting on a big two-day industrial fair in Yokkaichi on November 5th and 6th. There will be 323 exhibits this year, more than in any past year we've held this event. They will deal with areas such as cars, energy, manufacturing, agriculture, medical fields, research, and more.

Next-generation cars will be featured heavily, and there will be some available for test driving.

Medical Valley Forum: Health and Exercise
The Medical Valley Forum brings together industry, academia, government and the private sector around cooperation in the medical, health and welfare industries, with the aim of energizing regional development and improving the health and welfare of the prefecture's citizens.

At this forum on September 1st, we focus on the theme of "Health and Exercise", with presentations by speakers Yumiko Arimoto, a researcher and health specialist at Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting, and Dr. Motohiko Miyachi of the National Institute of Health and Nutrition.
